The Sharjah Digital Department (SDD) has launched the second cohort of its Data and AI Mastery Programme as the emirate works to build a government workforce ready for an AI-driven future.
The programme is part of the Sharjah Digital Transformation Strategy 2026–2028. It aims to strengthen data and artificial intelligence skills among government employees.
Sharjah AI programme brings together 40 government employees
The latest cohort includes 40 employees from 25 government entities across Sharjah.
The programme will run from late August until November 2026. It combines classroom learning with practical applications in data, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
Participants will learn how to use data and AI in their daily work. The programme also aims to help employees make better decisions and improve government operations.
In addition, the initiative focuses on creating more proactive and human-centred public services.
Programme focuses on practical AI skills
SDD said the programme goes beyond technical training.
Instead, it aims to help employees apply what they learn to real workplace challenges. Participants will work on practical solutions and explore new ways to improve decision-making across government entities.
Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director General of SDD, said data and AI are becoming important tools for governments.
“Data and AI are becoming essential tools for governments to understand public needs, anticipate challenges and make more effective decisions.”
He added that Sharjah wants the transformation to create a direct impact on government performance and public services.

The second cohort builds on SDD’s wider focus on developing government talent.
According to the department, skilled employees will play a key role in adopting emerging technologies effectively and responsibly.
The programme also supports Sharjah’s goal of building an integrated digital government ecosystem.
As part of this wider agenda, data governance, cybersecurity and innovation remain key areas of focus.
The emirate sees investment in its workforce as an important part of its digital transformation plans. By developing practical AI and data skills, Sharjah aims to help government employees respond to changing public needs and improve services.
For government organisations, the programme also highlights a wider shift in workforce development. AI adoption is increasingly linked to employee capability, rather than technology alone.
