According to Times of Oman, “Digital transition session focuses on role of AI model in improving government performance,” published in May 2026, Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology held a session in Muscat on Tuesday to explain how the Oman AI model Mueen can support faster government services and reduce administrative workloads.

Oman Mueen AI model for government performance

Officials demonstrated how AI model can assist employees with daily government tasks. The system prepares official letters, drafts professional messages, and translates specialised documents linked to government operations. It also analyses reports and extracts information from long files within specific time period[s.

The ministry organised the session as part of Oman’s wider digital transition programme. Government entities are increasing the use of AI tools to improve service delivery, simplify procedures, and raise operational efficiency across public institutions. Officials also discussed how AI platforms can support faster communication between departments and reduce delays linked to manual paperwork.

During the event, participants reviewed examples of automated workflows powered by the Oman AI model. The demonstrations focused on document processing, internal communication, and context-based translation services used in government environments.

Government services expand through AI integration

The Mueen assistant was developed through cooperation between government entities and private sector companies. Officials said the partnership supports Oman’s strategy to strengthen local technology capabilities and expand opportunities for national firms working in advanced digital sectors.

During the presentation, participants viewed simulations of how the Oman AI model handles administrative workflows. The demonstrations focused on reducing repetitive office tasks and helping employees process information faster. Officials also explained that the platform can summarise lengthy reports and provide responses linked to selected time periods and administrative records.

The ministry said the project also supports local innovation in artificial intelligence technologies. National companies involved in digital services and software development continue to participate in Oman’s expanding technology ecosystem.

Oman AI model highlights digital sovereignty goals

Officials described Mueen as a locally developed AI linguistic model that supports Oman’s digital sovereignty plans. The platform operates in Arabic-language government environments and supports context-based translation for large and complex files.

The session also highlighted ongoing efforts to train local talent in artificial intelligence and digital technologies. Authorities continue to expand digital systems across government departments as Oman advances national technology development plans. Government agencies are also reviewing ways to integrate AI tools into daily administrative processes while maintaining operational standards.

Officials stated that the Oman AI model reflects wider national efforts to modernise public sector services through locally developed digital solutions. The initiative also supports long-term goals linked to technology investment and workforce development across the Sultanate.
