Nahda Capital Partners has appointed Anders Moberg and Ahmed Al Naqbi as independent members of its Investment Committee. The Abu Dhabi Global Market based private equity platform announced the appointments as it advances its first GCC focused investment strategy.

The company said the appointments strengthen its governance and support the next phase of its investment plans. In addition, the announcement follows the Investment Committee’s first formal meeting. During that meeting, members authorised the investment team to pursue a priority investment opportunity that matches the firm’s strategy.

Anders Moberg joins Investment Committee

Anders Moberg brings decades of international leadership and board experience.

He joined IKEA at the age of 19 and spent almost 30 years with the company. He also served as Chief Executive Officer from 1999 to 2009 during a period of international expansion.

Later, Moberg held chief executive roles at Home Depot International, Royal Ahold and Majid Al Futtaim in Dubai. He now serves as Chairman of Byggmax Group and ITAB Shop Concept.

According to Nahda Capital Partners, Moberg’s experience will support the firm’s governance and investment oversight.

Ahmed Al Naqbi brings UAE banking experience

Ahmed Al Naqbi joins the Investment Committee while serving as Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Development Bank.

He has more than 20 years of leadership experience in the UAE banking sector. His previous roles include Managing Director positions at First Abu Dhabi Bank and National Bank of Abu Dhabi.

In addition, Nahda Capital Partners said Al Naqbi leads Emirates Development Bank’s work to support priority industrial sectors and help UAE businesses grow.

Appointments support Nahda Capital Partners strategy

Nahda Capital Partners said the appointments come as the firm expands its proprietary origination model. The model focuses mainly on off market investment opportunities.

According to the company, most investment opportunities will come through direct relationships and targeted outreach. The team also works closely with chambers of commerce, industry networks, founders and chief executives across the region.

Meanwhile, the Investment Committee has approved a focus on a priority opportunity that fits the firm’s investment approach. Nahda Capital Partners said the target business should have strong fundamentals, clear operational improvements and growth potential.

CEO outlines governance focus

Iñigo de Luna, Chief Executive Officer of Nahda Capital Partners, said the company built the platform with institutional governance as a priority.

He said: “We built Nahda to be an institutional platform from day one. Despite ongoing global and regional uncertainties, the UAE continues to demonstrate exceptional resilience and long term investment appeal. The strength of its regulatory environment, economic diversification strategy, and ability to attract international capital makes it one of the most compelling markets for investors today.

“The UAE’s leadership has consistently shown a clear playbook in times of stress by prioritising people, maintaining continuity, and acting with speed and precision. That clarity helps reduce uncertainty, reinforces market confidence, and gives businesses a dependable framework to operate within. Anders and Ahmed bring rare complementary perspectives, combining deep global operating and governance experience with strong local institutional leadership, working alongside our investment partners with a highly aligned approach.”

Nahda Capital Partners focuses on GCC businesses

Nahda Capital Partners targets majority and control oriented investments in mid market businesses across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and the wider GCC.

Its strategy focuses on operational value creation through professionalisation, stronger governance, commercial growth and selective regional expansion.

The firm invests in food production and distribution, health, wellness and longevity, education, workforce development, industrialisation and industrial technology.

According to P&S Intelligence, the GCC private equity market was worth AED 16.52 billion in 2025. Furthermore, the research firm expects the market to reach AED 25.34 billion by 2032. It forecasts a compound annual growth rate of 6.5 percent between 2026 and 2032.
