As regional tensions continue to escalate, Abu Dhabi has activated a round-the-clock mental health support helpline, offering residents immediate and confidential access to professional psychological assistance.

The 800-SAKINA (725462) hotline provides free support 24 hours a day, seven days a week, ensuring that individuals facing anxiety, stress, or emotional distress can seek timely help without barriers.

The service is managed by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) in collaboration with Sakina, a specialised mental health network operating under SEHA, which is part of PureHealth.

Immediate Psychological First Aid and Specialist Access

According to health authorities, the hotline offers psychological first aid and direct access to qualified mental health professionals. It is bilingual, serving callers in both Arabic and English, with dedicated provisions for children and families.

Residents can seek guidance for a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, panic attacks, acute stress reactions, sleep disturbances, and other mental health challenges. Individuals already undergoing treatment for existing mental health conditions can also receive tailored advice on coping strategies during periods of heightened uncertainty.

Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary at the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, emphasised that no concern is too small to discuss.

“Support is available around the clock, and Abu Dhabi’s health system continues to operate safely and effectively for all community members,” she said, adding that the activation reflects the government’s commitment to delivering timely and trusted support.

Public Advisory: Steps to Safeguard Mental Wellbeing

Health officials have also issued practical guidance to help residents maintain emotional balance during uncertain times:

  • Maintain regular daily routines wherever possible
  • Stay connected with family and friends
  • Limit exposure to distressing or unverified news
  • Reach out for professional support if feeling overwhelmed
  • Call 800-SAKINA (725462) for immediate assistance

Proactive Response Amid Regional Developments

The activation of the hotline comes as geopolitical tensions in the region intensify. Authorities have reiterated that public health systems across the emirate remain fully operational, and residents are encouraged to rely on verified sources for updates.

By introducing immediate psychological support infrastructure, Abu Dhabi signals a broader policy approach that recognises mental wellbeing as a critical pillar of public resilience during periods of external stress.
