Dubai Airports has appointed Ahmad Al Bastaki as Vice President, Technology Operations and Cybersecurity. The organisation has also promoted Kan Ni to Senior Vice President, Airport Operations and Khalid Ishaq to Vice President, Airport Operations Control Centre.
Dubai Airports announced the appointments on 23 July. According to the organisation, the leadership changes support its next phase of growth across Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central, Al Maktoum International (DWC).
Dubai Airports strengthens senior leadership team
Ahmad Al Bastaki joins the Business Technology division as Vice President, Technology Operations and Cybersecurity. He will oversee cybersecurity, service management and infrastructure operations.
According to Dubai Airports, the appointment strengthens its technology leadership as airports rely more heavily on digital systems. The organisation said the role supports airport performance, operational resilience and technology operations.
Kan Ni has moved from Vice President, Airport Operations Control Centre to Senior Vice President, Airport Operations.
Meanwhile, Khalid Ishaq has been promoted from Head of Airport Operations Control Centre Integration to Vice President, Airport Operations Control Centre.
Internal promotions reinforce operational leadership
Dubai Airports said the promotions strengthen the Airport Operations Control Centre, which coordinates the daily movement of about 200,000 guests through Dubai International Airport.
According to the organisation, Kan Ni helped develop the Airport Operations Control Centre into a data led operational platform. Dubai Airports also said he led operational teams during a recent period of regional airspace constraints and worked closely with the wider aviation network to maintain safe and efficient operations.
Khalid Ishaq joined Dubai Airports in 2005. Over two decades, he has built experience across the organisation’s operational systems.
Dubai Airports said his promotion reflects its focus on developing Emirati talent. The organisation added that Emiratis represent 75 per cent of its management team. It also linked the appointment to national initiatives, including Nafis and the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
Leadership appointments support future growth
Majed Al Joker, Chief Operating Officer at Dubai Airports, said the appointments strengthen leadership capability across operations, technology and national talent.
“Our ability to deliver safely, efficiently and at scale depends on the strength of our people, the resilience of our systems and the way we work together as one airport community,” Al Joker said.
He added: “These appointments reinforce the leadership capability we need for the future, combining specialist technology expertise, deep operational experience and strong Emirati talent in areas that are increasingly central to airport performance and resilience.”
According to Dubai Airports, the appointments support its continued focus on operational excellence, guest experience, digital transformation and future capacity.

The organisation said Dubai International welcomed a record 95.2 million guests in 2025, making it the busiest year in the airport’s history.
Dubai Airports also said Dubai World Central is undergoing a major expansion following plans announced in May 2024. The project includes a US$35 billion investment. According to the organisation, the airport is expected to handle 150 million passengers a year over the next decade before expanding to 260 million passengers and 12 million tonnes of cargo.
