The UAE has set a plan to generate 60 trillion AI tokens at Abu Dhabi’s Stargate campus, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence Omar Al Olama said at the Milken Middle East and Africa Summit. The programme positions the country to expand its AI processing capacity and build a national base for large-scale intelligence production.
How the AI Token System Works
AI tokens function as the basic units that models process after tokenisation breaks raw data into small readable segments. This structure supports tasks such as pattern recognition, prediction, and content generation. New AI-optimised data centres known as AI factories are being deployed to process large volumes of tokens in real time.
Stargate Campus and National Capacity Plans
Stargate is being developed as a hyperscale site with a planned output of 1 gigawatt, forming part of a broader 5GW AI campus. The facility is expected to run at 200 megawatts in 2026, with further expansion tied to demand. Al Olama noted that long-term infrastructure requirements would guide future scaling.
Impact on Energy and Industry
The minister reported that AI-based systems in the energy sector have delivered Dh500 million in savings through improved efficiency. Companies such as Adnoc Distribution are using AI tools to refine operations and reduce production costs. The government views token throughput as a strategic capability that supports domestic innovation and enables the UAE to export intelligence-driven services.
