According to Oman News Agency (ONA), Digital economy Oman will receive stronger cybersecurity support through the launch of the Oman National Cybersecurity Strategy 2026-2030. The Cyber Defense Center prepared the strategy with government and private-sector partners to strengthen cyber resilience, protect national interests and support Oman Vision 2040.

Digital Economy Oman strengthens Cyber governance

The new strategy establishes a national framework for cybersecurity from 2026 to 2030. It aims to improve cyber resilience while ensuring the continuity of essential services and creating a secure digital environment for businesses and public institutions.

The framework also supports innovation and economic growth by strengthening trust in digital systems. At the same time, it aligns cybersecurity priorities with the long-term objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

National strategy focuses on five Cybersecurity pillars

Digital economy Oman will benefit from five strategic pillars that guide the country’s cybersecurity efforts. These include cybersecurity governance, cyber resilience, cyber capability and awareness, cyber cooperation and the cyber economy.

The strategy also follows key principles such as integrated government action, sustainable capacity building, cyber foresight, local partnerships and international cooperation. These measures create a coordinated approach to addressing emerging cyber challenges.

Cyber Defense center leads National implementation

The Cyber Defense Center will oversee implementation between 2026 and 2030 while reviewing progress regularly. The strategy also prioritizes stronger legislation, closer cooperation between public and private organizations, improved national readiness and greater investment opportunities in cybersecurity.

Established under Royal Decree No. 64/2020, the Center serves as Oman’s national authority for cyber defense. It develops cybersecurity strategies, regulatory frameworks and national plans while coordinating implementation with relevant stakeholders.

Digital Economy Oman supports future digital growth

The Center also works to protect digital infrastructure and critical services while strengthening national readiness against cyber threats. In addition, it represents Oman in regional and international cybersecurity organizations, conferences and committees.

These efforts support qualified national capabilities, stronger international cooperation and a secure cyberspace that enables continued innovation and sustainable digital economic development across the Sultanate.
