Nithin Mathew has announced his appointment as Official Physiotherapist and Medical Partner by Aster Oman Al Khair Hospital for the Oman International Skate Ball Tournament 2026. He will support athlete health, performance and recovery during the event.
The tournament is expected to bring together teams from 11 countries, including Oman, Saudi Arabia, India, England and Poland.
Nithin Mathew brings physiotherapy leadership experience
Mathew currently heads the Physiotherapy Department at Aster Oman Al Khair Hospital in Ibri. He oversaw the department’s establishment, including planning, development and community engagement activities.
His responsibilities include organising health camps, coordinating community campaigns and developing referral networks through engagement with Ministry of Health officials.
Previously, Mathew worked at PVS Sunrise Hospitals in Kozhikode, India. There, he gained experience in critical care physiotherapy, including rehabilitation for ICU patients receiving ventilator and ECMO support.
Athlete support at Oman skate ball tournament
In his tournament role, Mathew will contribute to athlete health, physical performance and recovery. His appointment connects his clinical physiotherapy experience with sports medicine at an international sporting event.
Participating countries listed in his announcement include Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Poland, England, Oman, the UAE, Belarus and India.
Mathew also highlighted the importance of protecting athletes’ long-term wellbeing alongside their immediate performance and recovery needs. He views sports medicine as supporting athletes beyond injury treatment, helping them maintain performance while protecting their health.
Clinical background and professional qualifications
Mathew holds a Master of Physiotherapy in Advanced Orthopaedics from KMCH College of Physiotherapy in India. He also holds a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from PSG College of Physiotherapy.
His professional credentials include a FIFA Diploma in Football Medicine, UK HCPC registration and an Oman Ministry of Health licence.
Earlier in his career, he worked as a consultant physiotherapist, treating patients with musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. His clinical experience also includes rehabilitation planning and patient progress evaluation. The appointment adds an international sporting assignment to Mathew’s existing responsibilities at Aster Oman Al Khair Hospital.
