The programme introduces specialised academic pathways that align with Qatar’s long-term digital transformation goals. It also offers students access to government-funded education in emerging technology fields through both local and international scholarships.
Ministry collaboration drives future-ready scholarship programme
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education developed the Digital Transformation Programme in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
The new scholarship track aims to equip students with the skills required for an increasingly digital economy. It also supports the wider adoption of digital technologies across government entities and key industries.
According to Saleh Mohammed Al Miftah, Professional Guidance and Career Development Consultant, the programme expands academic opportunities in disciplines that match Qatar’s future workforce needs.
“The Digital Transformation track was introduced to prepare students for the changing demands of modern workplaces and the growing adoption of digital systems across government institutions and other sectors,” Al Miftah said during an interview with Qatar TV.
Students show growing interest in emerging technology disciplines
Student response has been encouraging since scholarship registration opened. According to Al Miftah, applicants have shown strong interest in newly introduced technology-focused disciplines that provide alternatives to traditional degree programmes.
Among the most popular fields are interactive design and electronic archiving. These specialisations help students develop practical skills that support digital transformation across multiple industries.
The programme currently offers around six international scholarship specialisations and two local specialisations through the University of Doha for Science and Technology.
Scholarships available in Qatar and abroad
The Digital Transformation Programme offers both domestic and international scholarship opportunities.
Applications for overseas scholarships are already open. Meanwhile, applications for local scholarships at the University of Doha for Science and Technology will open on November 15.
Eligible students can choose to pursue specialised education either within Qatar or at approved universities overseas.
Government scholarships offer financial and academic support
Students selected for overseas scholarships receive a monthly allowance of QR14,000, along with an air ticket. The travel class depends on the destination and university, while eligible cases may receive business-class travel.
In addition, scholarship recipients receive QR25,000 before departure to help cover initial study-related expenses.
The government also provides continuous academic guidance and support throughout the students’ study period.
Programme supports Qatar’s digital economy ambitions
The Digital Transformation Programme reflects changing career preferences among students as demand for digital skills continues to rise.
Moreover, the initiative supports Qatar’s broader strategy to develop national expertise in digital technologies, electronic records management, interactive design and other emerging fields.
By expanding scholarship opportunities beyond conventional disciplines, the programme helps students prepare for future careers while strengthening the country’s digital workforce.
