Oman infrastructure projects continue to move forward in Al Buraimi as the governorate expands road networks, upgrades public spaces, and improves service facilities. Officials provided an update on July 7, outlining progress on road paving, maintenance, and urban development projects that support residents, visitors, and commercial activity. The ongoing works also include improvements to public streets, health walkways, bicycle infrastructure, and road maintenance, helping enhance connectivity and the overall quality of urban spaces across the governorate.

Oman expands Road infrastructure in Al Buraimi

The first phase of the Oman infrastructure programme has delivered steady progress across Al Buraimi Governorate. Eng. Obaid Salim Al Kaabi, Director of the Projects Department, said 25 kilometres of roads have been paved under the first package. Basic works have reached 84 percent, while the overall project completion rate stands at 51 percent.

Work is also advancing under the second package, which covers another 20 kilometres of internal roads. Officials said related construction activities have reached 50 percent completion, with the overall progress of the package now standing at 33 percent. The projects continue to improve road access across the governorate.

The road upgrades form part of broader Oman infrastructure efforts to strengthen transport connectivity and support urban growth. As construction progresses, the expanded road network improves daily travel, provides better access to local services, and supports the governorate’s ongoing development plans.

Road maintenance and Urban upgrades continue

Road maintenance is also progressing across locations affected by weather conditions. Officials said the overall completion rate has reached 16 percent. Workers have completed asphalt paving at 10 sites, while teams continue protection works. Maintenance activities have also started at 10 additional locations along the old Mahdah-Al Fayy road and several other areas in the Wilayat of Al Buraimi.

Alongside these works, urban development projects continue to improve public spaces across the governorate.Al Buraimi Governorate completed the public street connecting Al Salam Roundabout and Al Khadra Roundabout in February 2026. The project covers 35,450 square metres and includes 2,688 metres of dedicated health walkways.

These improvements form part of the wider Oman infrastructure programme aimed at enhancing road safety, public accessibility, and community facilities. The upgraded streets and pedestrian spaces support daily mobility while creating a more comfortable environment for residents and visitors.

Oman infrastructure adds public facilities

Work is continuing on the public street project between Al Nahdah Roundabout and Al Salam Roundabout as part of the broader Oman infrastructure programme. The development spans around 90,000 square metres and extends 4,868 metres. It will feature health walkways, green spaces, water features, café canopies, investment buildings, restrooms, and modern street lighting.

The project is designed to improve public amenities while creating more accessible and attractive urban spaces. Officials said the upgraded corridor will provide facilities that support residents, visitors, and commercial activity across the area.

Meanwhile, the bicycle project has entered the design stage. The six-kilometre track will be three metres wide and will include dedicated parking areas for vehicles and bicycles across 200 square metres. Safety protection measures will also be incorporated to support secure and convenient use of the cycling route.

Infrastructure supports urban growth

The ongoing Oman infrastructure programme reflects Al Buraimi Governorate’s efforts to keep pace with urban expansion and growing commercial activity. Current projects focus on improving road networks, enhancing public spaces, and expanding service facilities that support the needs of citizens, residents, and visitors.

The developments also aim to improve transport connectivity while creating more accessible recreational areas across the governorate. Public amenities such as walkways, green spaces, bicycle facilities, and upgraded streets form part of the wider plan to enhance the urban environment.

According to the Oman News Agency (ONA), work continues across multiple projects as development activities progress throughout Al Buraimi. These initiatives demonstrate the governorate’s continued commitment to advancing Oman infrastructure through planned investments in roads, public facilities, and community-focused urban development.
