Oman Infrastructure Projects Boost South Al Batinah

According to Times of Oman, “South Al Batinah Municipal Council discusses service, development projects,” published in May 2026, the Municipal Council of South Al Batinah reviewed infrastructure, planning, and public service proposals during a meeting chaired by Eng. Masoud Said Al Hashmi in A’Rustaq.

Oman Infrastructure projects focus on roads and safety

Council members reviewed several Oman infrastructure projects linked to traffic safety and public road improvements across the governorate. Discussions included plans for pedestrian and vehicle tunnels, paving Al Muraisi road in Wilayat of Barka, and installing internal road lighting in Al Qurayha.

The council also studied proposals related to water drainage systems in Wadi Al Hufri and Wadi Al Khuwayrat in Barka. Officials reviewed these projects to reduce flash flood damage and improve public safety in affected areas. Authorities also discussed ways to improve road connectivity between residential areas and service facilities across several wilayats.

South Al Batinah municipal council development plans expand land use

The South Al Batinah Municipal Council development plans also covered land allocation and urban planning proposals in multiple wilayats. Members discussed a proposed livestock farming site in Al Iraqi area of A’Rustaq and reviewed a request for a public park in Al Mahalil area of Nakhal.

The council also examined the layout study of Al Marji plan in Wilayat of A’Rustaq. These discussions formed part of broader planning efforts linked to local services and future development requirements. Officials reviewed proposals connected to community facilities and public utility access as part of ongoing municipal planning work.

Oman Infrastructure projects include waterfront development

Members reviewed reports from a field visit conducted by the Governorate Development Committee to the waterfront project in Wilayat of Barka. The council also followed up on recommendations submitted by its Health and Environmental Affairs Committee, Social Affairs Committee, and Legal Affairs Committee.

Officials approved the minutes of the fourth council meeting of 2026 while reviewing updates from several subcommittees. Oman infrastructure projects remain part of ongoing development efforts focused on transport, public facilities, and municipal services across South Al Batinah. Council members also discussed project coordination measures linked to infrastructure maintenance and future service expansion.

Flood protection projects remain part of council discussions

The council discussed a flood protection request for Musalamat area in Wilayat of Wadi Al Maawil during the meeting. Members also reviewed service-related proposals connected to drainage infrastructure and environmental safety measures.
