The Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SPARK) has launched a new AI Hub aimed at accelerating artificial intelligence adoption and positioning Sharjah as a gateway for global talent and innovation.
The initiative brings together infrastructure, partnerships, and expertise into a single ecosystem. As a result, companies can access end-to-end support for AI development and deployment.
Integrated Ecosystem to Bridge Innovation and Implementation
The AI Hub is designed to close the gap between innovation and real-world application. It will offer a range of integrated services, including:
- AI consulting
- Applied research and development
- Data analytics
- Prototyping
- Advanced computing infrastructure
Therefore, organisations can move faster from concept to execution while reducing operational complexity.
Consortium Model Expands Global Collaboration
The hub will operate through a consortium of regional and international partners. This structure allows companies to tap into specialised expertise and emerging technologies.
In addition, the platform will support practical AI use cases across key sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, sustainability, and smart cities.
Talent Strategy Extends Beyond Borders
Hussain Al Mahmoudi, CEO of SPARK, emphasised that talent within the ecosystem goes beyond individuals. It also includes institutions, companies, and global contributors.
He noted that the platform will enable participation from talent outside the UAE. As a result, the hub aims to create a more inclusive and globally connected innovation network.
Government Integration Strengthens Ecosystem
A key differentiator of the AI Hub is strong government participation. Around 18 government labs are expected to become operational within the park this year.
This integration ensures that policy, research, and industry collaboration happen in one place. Consequently, the hub is positioned as a central platform for AI-driven transformation.
Capacity Building and Skill Development in Focus
The initiative also prioritises talent development. SPARK plans to offer training programmes, certifications, and workshops for professionals, researchers, and government entities.
These efforts aim to equip participants with the skills required to adopt and scale AI solutions effectively.
Growing Innovation Hub with Strong Industry Base
Established in 2016 under the leadership of Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, SPARK has grown into a major innovation ecosystem.
Today, it hosts over 7,500 companies across sectors such as healthcare and advanced manufacturing. The launch of the AI Hub marks the next phase in its evolution as a regional technology powerhouse.
