The UAE Cabinet has approved a sweeping national training programme to equip 80,000 federal employees with artificial intelligence skills. The move marks a major step in the country’s push to embed AI across public services. The decision was announced at a Cabinet meeting held at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi. The meeting was chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
AI to power 50% of government services
The programme forms part of a broader national transformation plan. It aims to integrate “agentic AI” into 50% of government services and operations The initiative follows directives from Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. It also aligns with the UAE’s ambition to lead globally in advanced AI adoption.
Moreover, the Cabinet approved a framework that defines how ministries and federal entities will implement the strategy. This ensures a coordinated and measurable rollout across sectors.
Training spans ministers to frontline employees
The programme will cover ministers, senior officials, and employees across federal entities. It focuses on practical AI tools, decision-making systems, and automation technologies.
As a result, the government expects faster service delivery and improved operational efficiency. In addition, the initiative aims to build a future-ready workforce capable of managing AI-driven systems.
New AI-powered service bundles approved
Alongside training, the Cabinet approved the first batch of AI-powered service bundles. These are designed for citizens, residents, businesses, and investors.
These bundled services aim to simplify processes and reduce administrative steps. Consequently, users will experience faster and more seamless interactions with government entities.
AI to reshape healthcare ecosystem
The Cabinet also introduced a national policy to expand AI use in healthcare. The plan includes building an AI-powered medical system and strengthening digital infrastructure.
Furthermore, it will train healthcare professionals in advanced AI applications. This is expected to improve diagnostics, patient care, and system efficiency.
UAE Government 4.0 era begins
Sheikh Mohammed confirmed that the transition to “UAE Government 4.0” has officially begun. He added that a national retreat will soon review the transformation roadmap.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan will oversee the implementation. The leadership has set a clear goal—to make the UAE the world’s best government in adopting agentic AI.
