Raytheon Emirates has named Yahya Shaheen Alhammadi as its new Managing Director. The company announced the appointment as it expands its focus on defense localization and industrial partnerships across the UAE.
Alhammadi previously served as Director of Requirements and Capabilities at Raytheon Emirates. He joined the company in 2025 and played a key role in strengthening regional defense programs.
In his new role, Alhammadi will lead initiatives that support the UAE’s national defense strategy. He will also focus on building local capabilities, supporting innovation, and developing long-term industrial partnerships within the country’s defense ecosystem.
Focus on local defense manufacturing and innovation
Raytheon Emirates said the appointment aligns with the UAE’s broader push to strengthen its domestic defense industry. The company aims to expand local production and create sustainable industrial capabilities in the region.
One of its major investments includes the local production of Raytheon’s battle-proven Coyote® Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System (C-UAS). The company believes such projects will help develop advanced defense technologies inside the UAE while supporting local talent and supply chains.
“Yahya’s extensive experience in regional defense and security makes him well-positioned to lead our efforts in supporting the UAE’s national security and industrial priorities,” said Chander Nijhon.
He added that the appointment builds on Raytheon’s four-decade partnership with the UAE defense sector.
UAE defense experience strengthens leadership team
Before joining Raytheon Emirates, Alhammadi held senior leadership positions within the UAE Armed Forces and the Gulf Cooperation Council Unified Command.
During his career, he worked on logistics, procurement programs, and advanced defense systems. Therefore, industry experts expect his operational experience to support Raytheon Emirates’ plans to strengthen indigenous defense capabilities in the UAE.
“It is a privilege to lead Raytheon Emirates in delivering critical capabilities, driving innovation, and advancing the UAE’s strategic ambitions,” Alhammadi said.
He also highlighted the company’s commitment to local partnerships and investment in Emirati talent.
