According to a report published by The Daily Tribune on September 12, 2026, Bahrain AI Education initiatives were presented by Education Minister Dr Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma during UNESCO’s Digital Week in Paris. He also discussed cooperation with UNESCO and Microsoft on teacher training and technology programmes for schools.
Bahrain AI Education takes centre stage in Paris
During the ministerial session at UNESCO headquarters, Dr Juma outlined Bahrain’s experience with technology and AI in education. He discussed different approaches to digital learning, including their benefits and challenges.
The minister also stressed the need to balance digital tools with traditional classroom practices. He said technology should support the education process while maintaining the role of teachers and classroom learning.
Bahrain advances Artificial Intelligence education initiatives
Dr Juma reviewed programmes introduced by Bahrain’s Ministry of Education that use technology and AI. According to the minister, these initiatives have helped improve student performance and strengthen teacher training.
He also discussed the steps needed to make AI part of education while avoiding unintended outcomes. His presentation ended with recommendations centred on protecting access to education for all during a period of rapid technological development.
UNESCO Cooperation supports Bahrain’s Education Goals
On the sidelines of Digital Week, Dr Juma met Professor Qun Chen, UNESCO Assistant Director General for Education. Their discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between Bahrain’s Ministry of Education and UNESCO through educational initiatives.
The talks also covered the UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Education. The minister met other UNESCO officials, including Dr Sobhi Tawil, Director of the Future of Learning and Innovation Division, and Dr Shafika Isaacs, Director of the prize.
Microsoft talks focus on AI teacher training
The Bahrain AI Education agenda also featured discussions with senior Microsoft officials. The meetings focused on training teachers to use AI in education and increasing the participation of Bahrain’s educational institutions in Microsoft’s technology incubator schools programme.
