Dubai’s Emirati Human Resources Development Council (EHRDC) has partnered with Nissan Middle East to expand employment and skills development opportunities for UAE nationals. The two organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 7 September 2026.
The partnership will focus on recruiting Emirati talent and providing specialised training. The programmes will target skills that Nissan currently needs and that are in demand within the company.
EHRDC and Nissan focus on Emirati skills
Under the agreement, EHRDC and Nissan Middle East will work together on the recruitment of UAE nationals. They will also support professional development through specialised training.
Nissan will bring its industry expertise to the partnership. In addition, the company will support knowledge and skills transfer for Emirati employees.
The initiative aims to help UAE nationals strengthen their capabilities. It will also support the development of sustainable careers within the private sector.
EHRDC said the partnership will help align training with changing labour market needs. The Council will also monitor employees’ professional development as part of the collaboration.
Partnership supports UAE Emiratisation goals
Abdulla Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Deputy Chairman of EHRDC, said the agreement strengthens the Council’s work with private sector organisations.
Al Falasi said Emiratisation goes beyond creating jobs for UAE nationals. He said it also requires organisations to equip Emirati employees with the skills and expertise needed to contribute effectively.
The partnership will therefore link training programmes to business requirements. It will also focus on employees’ long-term professional development and career stability.
EHRDC is expanding its engagement with private sector organisations through the agreement. This includes companies operating in free zones.
The Council aims to connect Emirati talent more closely with the needs of employers. As a result, the partnership places skills development alongside recruitment within its approach to Emiratisation.
Nissan to support Emirati professional development
Thierry Sabbagh, Divisional Vice President and President, Middle East, KSA, India and CIS, Nissan and INFINITI, said Nissan would contribute to the development of Emirati talent.
Sabbagh said the company would provide UAE nationals with skills, expertise and exposure to regional and global markets. He added that the partnership supports the UAE’s Emiratisation objectives.
The agreement also supports professional growth for Emirati employees. At the same time, it aims to strengthen the role of UAE nationals within the country’s diversified economy.
EHRDC expands private sector engagement
The collaboration forms part of EHRDC’s wider efforts to increase private sector employment among UAE nationals.
It also supports the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. The agenda includes a focus on skills development, labour market competitiveness and knowledge-driven economic growth.
For employers, the partnership links recruitment with training and career development. It also reflects EHRDC’s focus on building closer connections between Emirati talent and private sector requirements.
