In a major push towards digital governance, the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau has automated end-of-service gratuity calculations within the Mawared human resources system. The move aims to improve operational efficiency, reduce paperwork, and strengthen transparency across Qatar’s public sector.
The announcement, shared through the Bureau’s official social media channels, supports the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030. The strategy focuses on building a modern and technology-driven public administration system.
Automated gratuity system to improve speed and accuracy
Under the new system, gratuity entitlements are calculated automatically using verified employee records stored in the Mawared platform. The process follows the provisions of Qatar’s Civil Service Human Resources Law and approved regulatory guidelines.
In addition, the automated feature generates detailed reports that simplify review and approval procedures for HR teams. As a result, government departments can reduce manual intervention and minimise the risk of calculation errors.
According to the Bureau, the updated system can now generate complete gratuity reports in just five minutes. Previously, the process required extensive manual handling and significantly longer processing times.
Officials said the upgrade delivers a 90% reduction in processing time. Therefore, thousands of government employees are expected to benefit from faster settlement procedures when transferring roles or completing their service.
Mawared strengthens Qatar’s digital government ecosystem
The Bureau stated that the automation project forms part of its broader effort to modernise internal government services and enhance institutional efficiency.
“This automation contributes to speeding up procedures, enhancing calculation accuracy, and unifying the processing mechanism according to approved controls,” the Bureau noted in its statement.
Furthermore, the initiative strengthens employee confidence by offering a more transparent and reliable system for managing financial entitlements.
The Mawared platform already serves as a centralised human capital management system across government entities in Qatar. It currently manages several HR functions, including workforce administration and employee services.
With the addition of automated gratuity calculations, Mawared continues to expand its role in supporting Qatar’s long-term digital transformation agenda.
Government entities encouraged to adopt new feature
The Bureau has encouraged government departments to activate and utilise the new functionality. It also invited entities to share feedback to support future enhancements and continuous system improvements.
Meanwhile, employees approaching retirement or end-of-service stages have been advised to coordinate with their HR departments to ensure smooth processing under the upgraded system
