Microsoft and India’s Ministry of Labour and Employment confirmed on December 10, 2025, in New Delhi that the Microsoft India Employment initiative will integrate AI tools into government job platforms and bring over 15,000 employers to the National Career Service system to expand employment access and digital skilling nationwide.
What changed in Microsoft India’s employment strategy?
Microsoft India employment efforts now include direct integration with government hiring platforms. The company will connect over 15,000 employers and partners to the National Career Service platform. This step widens formal job access across multiple industries.
The partnership also links hiring systems with national digital welfare services. As a result, jobseekers can move between employment and social protection systems using a single digital framework.
AI chatbots for jobs and platform access
AI chatbots for jobs India will guide workers across employment and welfare platforms. These tools will help users search vacancies, register profiles, and access benefits. The ministry expects faster navigation for first-time jobseekers.
The e-Shram portal will host these AI tools. Microsoft built this portal on Azure. The system supports 172,000 transactions per second and once handled 8 million registrations in a single day.
Impact on the workforce
Microsoft India employment expansion targets formal job inclusion. Officials expect improved access for informal workers and youth. The system will also support global job mobility pathways.
The DigiSaksham program will scale AI-driven skilling. It will train youth in AI, cloud, cybersecurity, and productivity tools. These skills align with global hiring demand.
Supporting data and official statements
Union Labour Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya said the partnership links jobs with social protection systems. He confirmed that social protection coverage rose from 19% in 2015 to 64.3% in 2025. This now supports over 94 crore citizens.
He added that embedding AI into NCS and e-Shram strengthens job access. The ministry targets 100 crore citizens under social protection by March 2026.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella praised India’s data-led labour systems. He stated that e-Shram supports worker-centric policy planning through real-time insights.
Next phase of Microsoft India’s employment collaboration
The partnership now shifts toward large-scale employer onboarding and nationwide skilling delivery. Government platforms will expand youth and informal worker access. Digital job matching will remain central to future execution.
