IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation announced on December 22, 2025, that it will launch an AI-enabled HR analytics programme in India from January 2026, in partnership with the Education Ministry’s SWAYAM Plus, to address rising demand for data-driven HR skills.

What changed in IIT Madras HR analytics training

Registrations for the programme will remain open until December 30, the institute said. The first batch will begin in January 2026, and the course will run for four months.

The curriculum includes two days of on-campus learning. Teaching will be delivered by faculty members along with industry practitioners who specialise in HR analytics and artificial intelligence.

How the IIT Madras programme works

Participants will study HR dashboards, workforce metrics, predictive modelling, and AI use cases in HR. The curriculum also covers data-based decision-making across HR functions. Each learner will complete an industry-focused capstone project.

IIT Madras designed the programme for students and working professionals. It targets entry- and mid-level HR practitioners, aspiring HR leaders, and professionals from aviation, technology, and services sectors.

Impact on HR professionals and organisations

Organisations increasingly rely on people analytics and predictive workforce planning. As a result, HR teams now require stronger data and AI capabilities. The IIT Madras programme aims to align HR roles with these operational needs.

Government-backed platforms like SWAYAM Plus have expanded skilling initiatives in digital and analytical domains. This programme adds HR analytics to that portfolio, according to the institute.

Institutional context and official statement

Dr M J Shankar Raman, CEO of IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation, said the programme focuses on data-led HR functions. He stated that the initiative combines academic training with industry inputs to prepare HR professionals for current organisational requirements.

IIT Madras Pravartak operates as a Section 8 company. It hosts the Technology Innovation Hub on Sensors, Networking, Actuators and Control Systems under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems.
