Bahrain WEP has appointed an education leader with almost 20 years of experience across Lebanon and Bahrain. Dr. Manal Al Ashkar’s professional background includes teaching, curriculum coordination, educational leadership, teacher training, research and special educational needs.
She began her career as an English language teacher at Tanoukhieh National School in Lebanon, where she taught for many years while coordinating academic programmes across different school cycles. During this period, she developed expertise in curriculum delivery, classroom management and student engagement.
More recently, she has served as Head of Middle School and Class Teacher at Alia National School in Bahrain. Alongside teaching English, Mathematics and Science, she has worked with both mainstream learners and students with special educational needs.
Leadership Experience Supports Bahrain Education Role
Beyond her school leadership responsibilities, Dr. Al Ashkar currently serves as Senior Director of Education for Lebanon and Special Educational Needs at the International Teachers Association. She also works as a Scientific Researcher with the Dhad International Journal for Humanities and Social Sciences, while contributing as an accredited trainer, translator and proofreader through Dhad International Centre for Audit and Correction.
Her professional profile reflects experience in educational leadership, curriculum development, teacher training and inclusion. According to WEP, her work also covers educational planning, professional development, digital learning and educational innovation, supporting learning environments designed to meet diverse student needs.
Role Focuses on Planning, Inclusion and Digital Technology
As Director of Education, Planning, Inclusion and Digital Technology, Dr. Al Ashkar will support WEP’s programmes across Bahrain. The organisation said her responsibilities will contribute to advancing educational excellence through innovation, accessibility and inclusive learning.
The appointment also reflects WEP’s emphasis on strengthening education systems that incorporate digital learning, educational planning and inclusive practices. The organisation stated that these priorities support its wider objective of making quality education more accessible for learners.
Bahrain WEP Strengthens Education Leadership
Dr. Al Ashkar holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from Lebanese University. She is also pursuing a PhD in the Management of Educational Institutions, according to her professional profile.
Her qualifications include a Diploma in Educational Sciences, TEFL/TESOL certification, accreditation as a trainer through the IABC, an SEN Diploma, an Autism certified course, along with experience as a translator, editor and researcher. These qualifications complement her work across classroom teaching, school leadership and teacher development.
Throughout her career, Dr. Al Ashkar has worked across teaching, leadership, curriculum development and inclusion in both Lebanon and Bahrain. Her appointment adds that experience to World Education Policy’s leadership team as the organisation continues its education initiatives in Bahrain.
