Qatar’s Civil Service and Government Development Bureau (CGB) has partnered with Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar to roll out a series of specialised workshops for government employees. The initiative aims to strengthen skills in artificial intelligence (AI), project management, and institutional leadership.

The programme, organised by the Public Administration Institute, reflects Qatar’s broader push to modernise governance. It also supports long-term goals around institutional efficiency and sustainable development.

Building future-ready government capabilities

According to CGB, the workshops will equip employees with practical tools and global best practices. As a result, participants can improve service delivery and operational performance across government entities.

Moreover, the sessions will focus on key areas such as institutional performance, AI adoption, and change management. They will also address project management using agile methods tailored for the public sector.

Driving operational excellence and innovation

The workshops place strong emphasis on operational excellence and modern administrative practices. In addition, they aim to help employees respond to fast-changing technological and organisational demands.

Key topics include:

  • Improving government processes for efficiency
  • Internal auditing and the role of AI
  • Agile project management in public administration
  • Leadership strategies for organisational transformation

Consequently, the programme is expected to enhance institutional readiness and promote innovation within Qatar’s public sector.

Academic collaboration adds global expertise

The partnership with Carnegie Mellon University brings international expertise to the initiative. The university is known for its strengths in technology, management, and innovation.

Therefore, the collaboration will introduce advanced methodologies and global insights into Qatar’s administrative systems. This approach will help bridge theory and real-world application in governance.

Aligning with national development goals

CGB emphasised that the workshops align with Qatar’s national priorities. These include human capital development, digital transformation, and institutional modernisation.

By investing in workforce training, the Bureau aims to build a more agile and efficient government. At the same time, it seeks to foster a culture of continuous improvement across departments.

Strengthening public sector resilience

Overall, the initiative highlights the growing role of academic partnerships in public sector reform. It also underlines the importance of equipping employees with future-ready skills.

As Qatar accelerates its transformation agenda, such programmes will play a critical role in improving governance and service delivery.
