IIT Kanpur confirmed on Monday that its 2025–26 placement season began in Kanpur with 672 job offers. The first-day results marked a new record, and officials said the rise matters now as employer demand for technical talent continues to expand across sectors.
Job trends at IIT Kanpur’s new placement season
IIT Kanpur reported 627 accepted job offers by the end of day 1. This figure includes Pre-Placement Offers, which formed a large share of the total. The institute noted that more results are expected as companies continue evaluations.
The institute logged a 16% rise in job offers compared to last year’s opening day. Accepted offers, including PPOs, increased by 20%, reflecting stronger early-season participation.
What changed in this year’s job cycle
A surge in PPOs shaped the placement trajectory. IIT Kanpur recorded 253 such offers, which marked a 27% jump from the previous cycle. These offers arrived before formal interviews, showing a shift in how employers approach early job commitments.
The campus also recorded nine overseas job offers. The data shows rising international interest in the institute’s graduates.
Impact on students and recruiters
Students across disciplines engaged with domestic and global companies. Recruiters from engineering, finance, and consulting expanded their job intake. Interest grew from over 250 organisations that registered for the season.
Companies such as Accenture, BlackRock, HSBC, SAP, Airbus, PwC, Navi, Qualcomm and Deutsche Bank took part. Their participation reinforced IIT Kanpur’s role as a steady recruitment source.
Data and on-going activity
The Students’ Placement Office confirmed the numbers and congratulated selected candidates. Officials said several firms will continue interviews over the coming days. More job results will be released after final evaluations.
