A TCS employee has alleged that he was asked to resign merely five days after joining Tata Consultancy Services. The MBA graduate shared his experience in a detailed Reddit post, saying his background check was the reason behind the sudden exit.

According to his post, he had waited months for his TCS employee joining letter. Excited and hopeful, he finally started work and even completed the Initial Learning Programme (ILP). However, before moving to the bench, the HR team allegedly informed him that his background verification had failed.

The man explained that his previous employer had shut down due to bankruptcy. Because of that, he could not provide formal HR records. He claimed that he had been paid in cash, ₹30,000 per month, so there was no bank proof of employment. His only documents were three payslips and a relieving letter. Despite these, TCS reportedly refused to accept any explanations.

He even said that his former managing director and manager were ready to vouch for his employment, but the HR department allegedly gave him two choices, resign or face termination. Feeling helpless, the TCS employee said he had travelled over 240 km for exams and interviews before landing the job, only to lose it within days.

Now, he fears his career is at risk. He mentioned that most recruiters are offering him only ₹20,000 per month. While others are rejecting him due to a three-year gap after his undergraduate degree.

The Reddit post quickly went viral. Many social media users expressed sympathy and criticised companies for being overly rigid with background checks, especially when genuine issues exist. Some advised him to keep all documentation ready in case he reapplies to major firms.

TCS has not yet responded to the allegations. If confirmed, this case highlights how stringent verification systems can sometimes derail careers, even before they properly begin.
