Al Dhahirah Five Year Plan highlights Oman strategic projects as officials reviewed ongoing achievements, future development priorities, and municipal initiatives during a media briefing in Ibri. The presentation covered projects under the Tenth and Eleventh Five-Year Plans, focusing on infrastructure, renewable energy, logistics, food and water security, mining, digital transformation, and investment to support Oman Vision 2040, economic diversification, and regional development across the governorate.
Al Dhahirah governorate strategic projects under five year plan
During the media briefing, Taher Mabkhout Al Junaibi, Governor of Al Dhahirah, outlined the governorate’s vision under the Eleventh Five-Year Plan (2026-2030). He said the strategy focuses on food and water security, tourism, archaeological sites, logistics, renewable energy, mining, industry, and digital transformation. These priority sectors are expected to strengthen economic activity, create investment opportunities, support SMEs, and generate jobs for job seekers.
Officials also revealed that strategic projects completed or under implementation during the Tenth Five-Year Plan exceed OMR770 million. The investment portfolio includes OMR235 million for water, electricity, and telecommunications networks, OMR270 million for solar energy projects in Ibri, OMR122 million for the Integrated Economic Zone at the Empty Quarter border crossing, OMR115 million for the Mazoon Copper Project in Yanqul, OMR25 million for Ibri Industrial City (Madayn), and OMR40 million for food security initiatives.
The Al Dhahirah Five-Year Plan for 2026 also includes a series of community projects. These include Phase 2 of Ibri Public Park, the Science and Innovation Center, development of the commercial area in Al Dariz, Phase 2 of the Al Nahda neighbourhood walkway, road paving for residential and industrial areas, parking facilities at the viewpoints of Yanqul and Dhank, energy-efficient lighting, the “Our Waterfront” project in Ibri, beautification projects across the wilayats, children’s parks, and the Ibri Central Slaughterhouse.
Infrastructure and municipal projects continue to expand
Eng. Nuseir Ali Al Siyabi, Director General of A’Dhahirah Municipality, reviewed the implementation status of projects completed under the Tenth Five-Year Plan. He said the governorate has 182 municipal projects, including 159 completed and 23 under implementation, with an overall completion rate of 89%. The projects carry a combined value of OMR40 million, while the private sector has contributed more than OMR3 million.
Infrastructure projects account for the largest share of investment. A total of 88 projects, worth more than OMR23 million, include internal road paving, industrial road construction, road maintenance, and energy-efficient lighting systems. These projects continue to improve connectivity, strengthen public infrastructure, and support economic activity across the governorate.
Development projects also continue to expand through 22 parks, public spaces, and health walkway projects worth more than OMR11 million, with an overall completion rate of 89%. Key initiatives include Ibri Public Park (Phase 1), the viewpoints in Yanqul and Dhank, the Hamra Al Duru walkway, the Al Aqbah, Dhank, Al Waqbah, and Al Nahda neighbourhood walkways. Together, these projects improve community facilities and enhance the quality of life for residents.
Development focus supports communities and investment
Municipal service projects also continue to improve public infrastructure across the governorate. Officials said 75 service projects, valued at more than OMR1.5 million, have reached an overall completion rate of 89%. The programme includes the Ibri events square, redevelopment of the Friday Market in Yanqul, flood protection works, rainwater drainage systems, and a dedicated car show arena.
The Al Dhahirah Five-Year Plan also encourages balanced regional growth by combining strategic investments with community-focused initiatives. Infrastructure expansion, municipal improvements, renewable energy projects, industrial development, and public facility upgrades continue to improve living standards while creating a more attractive environment for businesses, investors, and residents.
Officials added that the development programme remains aligned with Oman Vision 2040 and the governorate’s long-term priorities. Through continued investment in infrastructure, logistics, mining, food security, digital transformation, and public services, the Al Dhahirah Five-Year Plan aims to strengthen economic diversification, expand investment opportunities, and support sustainable development across the governorate.
