The UAE Labour Market Coordination Council held its fifth meeting in Dubai to review labour market developments and strengthen coordination between federal and local government entities.
The meeting was chaired by Dr Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The Council reviewed labour market indicators and initiatives aimed at improving coordination across government bodies. Members also discussed measures that support business continuity and address the needs of private-sector employers and their workforces.
UAE Labour Market Council reviews employment measures
The meeting included an update on the Establishments Bundle programme, along with initiatives that support family growth within the employment sector.
The discussions also covered flexible measures for private-sector establishments. These measures aim to help businesses respond to changing labour market needs while maintaining continuity.
The Council also reviewed developments in workforce wellbeing across the UAE.
Members discussed joint efforts to improve employee wellbeing and align these efforts with wider national priorities. The focus forms part of broader efforts to improve quality of life across the labour market.
Emirates Labour Market Award expands participation
The Council received an update on the fourth edition of the Emirates Labour Market Award.
The meeting noted the award’s expanding scope and increased participation from establishments and individuals across the employment sector.
The award is part of wider efforts to encourage practices that support the development of the UAE labour market.
Council strengthens coordination across government
Members also stressed the need for continued coordination and knowledge sharing between federal and local entities.
This approach allows government bodies to share labour market information and align policies and initiatives. It can also help policymakers respond to emerging workforce trends and future employment needs.
The Council’s work covers labour market policies, legislation, procedures and initiatives across the UAE. It also reviews local and international labour market reports, findings and statistics.
UAE labour market coordination framework
The UAE established the Labour Market Coordination Council through a Cabinet decision in 2024.
The Council brings together federal and local entities involved in employment matters. Its mandate includes reviewing and aligning labour market legislation, policies and procedures.
It also monitors labour market developments in the UAE and overseas. This gives participating entities a framework to coordinate responses to changes in employment and workforce conditions.
The fifth meeting therefore placed coordination, business continuity and workforce wellbeing at the centre of the UAE’s labour market agenda.
