The National Career Service portal mobilised 8.17 crore job vacancies for NCS portal job seekers till November 20, 2025, Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya told Parliament on Monday in New Delhi, citing the platform’s growing role in job matching and hiring access.
What changed for National Career Service portal job seekers
The National Career Service portal now connects over 6.02 crore registered job seekers with more than 54.27 lakh employers. The registrations cover women, SC, ST, and EWS categories. The government tracks both private and public sector postings through the system.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment operates the platform. It offers job listings, digital matching, career counselling, and vocational guidance. It also hosts updates on training programmes and skill courses.
How the National Career Service portal system works
The NCS portal also supports physical hiring infrastructure. The government approved 407 Model Career Centres across states and institutions. These centres provide placement support and employment guidance.
Over the last year, the ministry signed MoUs with ten private firms. The list includes Amazon and Swiggy. These partnerships alone mobilised close to five lakh vacancies through the digital system.
Impact on youth hiring and job creation
Mandaviya linked the NCS portal performance to India’s broader hiring trends. He cited the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025, which placed India’s unemployment rate at 2 percent, the lowest among G20 countries.
He also pointed to the government’s youth employment package announced at the start of the current term. The package carries a total budget of Rs 2 lakh crore. It targets 4.1 crore youth across skilling, hiring, and training initiatives.
A key scheme under the package is the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana. The scheme holds a budget of Rs 99,446 crore. It aims to support the creation of over 3.5 crore jobs in two years. Of these, 1.92 crore positions target first-time workers.
Forward outlook for hiring through the portal
The ministry plans to expand employer participation on the National Career Service portal. It also aims to widen Model Career Centre coverage in new districts. Officials confirmed that portal integration with state databases remains under review.
No timeline for further expansion has been announced. The platform continues to operate under existing digital hiring rules.
