The UAE Gender Balance Council has launched a national dialogue to help shape the UAE Gender Balance Strategy 2027-2031, bringing together more than 100 representatives from government entities and private-sector organizations.

The initiative aims to define priorities for the country’s next phase of gender balance policies. Participants explored future opportunities, discussed national priorities and examined how emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence could influence long-term economic and social development.
Stakeholders help define future priorities
The dialogue reflects the UAE’s collaborative approach to policymaking. Government leaders, business executives and industry representatives worked together to identify key priorities that can support sustainable growth and strengthen the country’s global competitiveness.
During the discussions, participants examined major trends expected to shape the future economy. These included artificial intelligence, new business models and evolving workplace practices. In addition, they explored policies that can increase economic participation, improve quality of life and support social inclusion.
Strategy built around six key pillars
The upcoming Gender Balance Strategy 2027-2031 will focus on six core areas.
These include education and skills development, family support and caregiving responsibilities, health and wellbeing, leadership and workplace culture, entrepreneurship and financial inclusion, as well as the future economy and artificial intelligence.
Workshop participants also assessed potential challenges and opportunities. They proposed practical solutions and discussed how government institutions and businesses can work together to deliver measurable outcomes.
Eight new organizations join SDG 5 Pledge
The event also marked the expansion of the SDG 5 Pledge, a national initiative that encourages organizations to promote gender balance and workplace inclusion.
Eight organizations joined the pledge during the event. They include Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Stellantis, Deloitte, Sanofi, Al Nabooda Automobiles, SAAL, Rosewood Abu Dhabi and Goumbook.
As a result, the total number of participating organizations has reached 88. The growing membership highlights stronger private-sector support for equal opportunities, inclusive workplaces and sustainable business practices.
UAE builds on years of gender balance progress
H.H. Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Gender Balance Council, said the country’s achievements reflect a long-term vision focused on investing in people and creating opportunities for all members of society.
She emphasized that gender balance remains a key pillar of sustainable development, national competitiveness and quality of life. Furthermore, she described the new strategy as an important step toward strengthening future readiness and reinforcing the UAE’s global leadership position.
Focus shifts to future-ready workplaces
H.E. Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice President of the UAE Gender Balance Council, said the UAE has established a strong foundation through progressive legislation and increased participation in leadership roles.
She noted that the next phase will focus on improving workplace outcomes. Key priorities include career progression, leadership opportunities and institutional readiness for the future economy.
Meanwhile, H.E. Mouza Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Secretary General of the council, highlighted the link between economic development, social wellbeing and quality of life. She added that supportive workplace environments can strengthen family stability, improve productivity and help employees balance professional and personal responsibilities.
Family-Friendly Workplace Award nominations open
The council also announced the opening of nominations for the Family-Friendly Workplace Award 2026.
The award is open to organizations participating in the SDG 5 Pledge. It recognizes companies that have introduced practical workplace policies supporting families, work-life balance and long-term organizational impact.
The national dialogue and the continued expansion of the SDG 5 Pledge underscore the UAE’s commitment to developing future-focused policies that promote gender balance, improve quality of life and enhance long-term economic competitiveness.
