Bayer has appointed Mohamed Galal as Cluster Head for MENA – Consumer Health. The move strengthens the company’s regional leadership. It also supports faster localisation, stronger partnerships, and wider access to science-backed self-care solutions across the Middle East and North Africa.

Previously, Galal served as Vice President and Head of Middle East Consumer Health. He brings over 22 years of experience at Bayer. During this time, he led brand growth, developed talent, and worked closely with regulators and healthcare partners across the region. As a result, Bayer improved market reach and execution in several MENA countries.

The appointment aligns with Bayer’s global mission, “Health for all, Hunger for none.” The company operates in 16 MENA markets through its Pharmaceuticals, Consumer Health, and Crop Science divisions. Together, these businesses address key health and nutrition needs in the region.

Speaking on the new role, Galal said the MENA region is at a pivotal moment for healthier futures. He added that Bayer will deepen partnerships, localise capabilities, and expand access to trusted self-care products. At the same time, the company aims to support national health goals and deliver sustainable growth.

Strategy built on localisation, wellness, and growth

Bayer’s regional strategy focuses on three clear priorities.
First, the company plans to advance localization. It will transfer technology and expertise to regional partners. In addition, Bayer aims to expand manufacturing, increase clinical capacity, and build a skilled healthcare workforce. Second, Bayer will align closely with national wellness agendas. Through partnerships, it will promote responsible self-care and help reduce pressure on primary healthcare systems. Finally, the company aims to drive sustainable growth. It will use resilient commercial models that balance affordability, access, and quality across diverse MENA markets.

Overall, the leadership change marks a new phase of regional collaboration. Bayer will combine global scientific strength with local investment. This approach aims to deliver measurable improvements in everyday health outcomes across MENA.
