Eli Lilly and Company has appointed Mohab Hassan as Director, Medical Affairs – Immunology Gulf. Based in Dubai, Hassan will lead medical affairs strategy across the Gulf region. His role will focus on advancing the company’s immunology portfolio, strengthening scientific engagement, and supporting patient-centric healthcare initiatives.
Focus on regional strategy and patient-centric innovation
In his new position, Hassan will oversee medical strategy and execution across key Gulf markets. He will work closely with healthcare stakeholders to enhance clinical outcomes and drive innovation in immunology treatments. The appointment comes as pharmaceutical companies continue to prioritise specialised therapies and regional engagement in the Middle East.
Over a decade of experience in pharmaceutical leadership
Hassan brings more than 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a strong track record in immunology and neuroscience.
Prior to joining Eli Lilly, he served as Gulf Medical Lead – Immunology at Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson. In this role, he led regional medical strategies and contributed to the growth of immunology portfolios.
He also held several leadership roles within Janssen, including Medical Advisor for Mood Disorders across EMEA and Medical Manager for Neuroscience in the GCC region.
Early career foundation at Novartis
Hassan began his career at Novartis as a Medical Representative. This role helped him build strong expertise in clinical engagement and stakeholder management. Over the years, he has developed deep knowledge of regional healthcare systems, positioning him well to drive medical impact across the Gulf.

With his combined experience in medical affairs, neuroscience, and immunology, Hassan is expected to play a key role in expanding Eli Lilly’s presence in the region.
