In a significant move to advance digital governance, Sharjah Digital Department (SDD) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Dell Technologies to strengthen artificial intelligence capabilities across government operations in the Emirate.
The partnership aims to enhance institutional readiness, enabling government entities to adopt advanced technologies and deliver more efficient, citizen-centric services. Moreover, the initiative reflects Sharjah’s broader ambition to embed AI into core public sector functions.
Focus on Capability Building and Practical AI Use Cases
Under the agreement, SDD and Dell Technologies will roll out a comprehensive programme that includes hands-on training, knowledge transfer, and specialised workshops. These sessions will target senior and mid-level executives, developers, and professionals across sectors such as culture, arts, and agriculture.
Importantly, the programme emphasises real-world application. Government entities will develop practical AI use cases within their workflows. As a result, departments can directly improve operational efficiency and service delivery.
Supporting Sharjah’s Digital Transformation Strategy
The collaboration aligns with Sharjah’s Digital Transformation Strategy 2026–2028. It focuses on building an integrated, data-driven ecosystem that supports proactive governance.
Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director General of SDD, stated that AI is not just a tool but a driver of structural change. He highlighted that the initiative will help redesign government operations while improving quality of life for residents.
Furthermore, the strategy prioritises system integration, data utilisation, and smart decision-making. These elements are critical to building a connected and future-ready government.
Public-Private Collaboration at the Core
The agreement also underscores the importance of public-private partnerships in accelerating digital transformation. By leveraging Dell’s global expertise, SDD aims to adopt best practices and scale innovation faster.
Walid Yehia noted that the collaboration will empower government entities to harness cutting-edge technologies. He added that it will enable more efficient and high-quality operational models across departments.
Driving Citizen-Centric Digital Services
Ultimately, the initiative seeks to create a seamless and proactive government experience. It will equip the workforce with the skills needed to keep pace with rapid technological change.
Additionally, SDD continues to play a central role in shaping Sharjah’s digital future. By building capabilities, developing policies, and strengthening integration, the department is fostering a sustainable digital ecosystem. This approach not only supports economic growth but also enhances service quality for residents and businesses.
