LTIMindtree announced in Mumbai on Tuesday that it introduced nearly 1,500 AI-enabled digital employees across finance, infrastructure and customer-service teams. The company said the rollout supports its ongoing shift toward a delivery model that grows without proportional increases in headcount.

AI and the new operating model

The business has been pursuing nonlinear expansion for several quarters. As part of that push, it recorded more than $64 million in additional revenue in the first half of FY26. During the same period, overall lateral hiring dropped by almost 1,900 employees, even as project volumes rose. Fresher recruitment increased to rebalance team structures.

How the AI system works

Each digital worker operates with an assigned identity, a defined profile and an AI-generated avatar. These AI personas receive training and oversight, and they are evaluated in a process similar to human performance reviews. Some profiles may be withdrawn later if they do not meet internal standards.

Impact on internal and leadership functions

AI agents now support several functions beyond routine tasks. Tools built for HR, sales and leadership roles assist teams with data retrieval and case-study discovery. One sales agent, developed on Microsoft’s Copilot stack, helps staff search global engagement records quickly. Teams handling expanded workloads report increased productivity after the shift.

Forward view for LTIMindtree’s talent mix

The organisation expects revenue to grow nearly two times over five years while headcount increases by only 1.2–1.3 times. Reskilling and role redeployment will continue as governance-heavy positions move into delivery operations. LTIMindtree describes these digital employees as part of a long-term AI-first model designed to reshape future delivery.
