Atlantis Dubai has promoted Kym Barter to Managing Director, placing him at the helm of both Atlantis, The Palm and Atlantis The Royal.

In his expanded role, Barter will oversee the strategic direction and operational performance of Atlantis Dubai’s integrated portfolio, which includes its two flagship resorts and Aquaventure World. The move signals continuity in leadership as the hospitality group strengthens its positioning in Dubai’s ultra-luxury tourism segment.

Track Record of Operational and Culinary Excellence

Barter joined Atlantis Dubai in May 2021, initially leading its expansive food and beverage division. He oversaw concept development, product strategy and execution across one of the region’s most diverse culinary portfolios.

In July 2023, he was elevated to General Manager and Senior Vice President of Atlantis, The Palm. During this tenure, he assumed responsibility for operational and financial performance, guest satisfaction and colleague engagement.

Under his leadership, the resort achieved record performance levels and secured global industry recognition, including accolades from Forbes Travel Guide and multiple distinctions from the Michelin Guide across its restaurant portfolio.

Three Decades of Global Luxury Hospitality Experience

With more than 30 years of experience across North America, the Middle East and Asia Pacific, Barter’s career reflects a blend of operational rigour and culinary innovation. His appointment to Managing Director marks a strategic consolidation of leadership across Atlantis Dubai’s expanding footprint.

The promotion also underscores the group’s internal talent development philosophy, reinforcing opportunities for career progression within the organisation.

Sustaining Growth in Dubai’s Luxury Tourism Market

Atlantis Dubai continues to anchor its brand around large-scale experiential hospitality. Atlantis, The Palm, opened in 2008, remains one of the region’s most recognisable integrated resorts. Meanwhile, Atlantis The Royal has further elevated Dubai’s global luxury positioning with its architectural design, celebrity chef restaurants and high-end experiential offerings.

With Barter now steering both properties, Atlantis Dubai aims to sustain operational excellence while advancing innovation across guest experiences, culinary strategy and large-scale resort management.

His appointment represents a significant milestone in the group’s evolution as Dubai’s hospitality market grows increasingly competitive and experience-driven.
