TRENDS Research & Advisory has launched the Artificial Intelligence for Interfaith Dialogue (AI4ID) Alliance. At the same event, it released the 2025 Global Muslim Brotherhood Influence Index. Together, these steps highlight a growing focus on ethical technology, dialogue, and social stability.
The announcement took place at TRENDS’ Dubai office and included global researchers, policymakers, and academic partners. The programme combines research, technology, and dialogue. As a result, it aims to better understand ideological shifts while encouraging peaceful engagement.
AI Positioned as a Tool for Dialogue
Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS, said the joint launch carries clear meaning. According to him, countering extremism requires understanding ideas and narratives first. Security action alone is not enough.
He added that artificial intelligence now shapes public awareness and online discourse. Therefore, ethical governance has become essential. The AI4ID Alliance seeks to turn AI into a tool for mediation, moderation, and peacebuilding. It also follows global digital-ethics principles.
Maqsoud Kruse, Envoy of the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs for Counter-Extremism and Counter-Terrorism, described the alliance as a major humanitarian step. He said it strengthens dialogue, tolerance, and coexistence. In addition, it supports responsible AI use to address global challenges.
Global Partnerships and Policy Relevance
French Senator Nathalie Goulet said the initiative marks a new phase in addressing religious and intellectual challenges. Notably, it combines innovation with ethical responsibility. This approach may help reduce hate speech and online polarization.
She also highlighted the 2025 Influence Index as a useful research tool. Policymakers and security institutions can use it to understand ideological and geographic trends more clearly.
Three-Year Plan for Ethical AI Dialogue
The AI4ID project will run for three years as per TRENDS AI partners. First, researchers will map global experiences. Next, teams will build a secure AI chatbot or smart dialogue platform. Finally, universities and religious institutions will test the system.
Expected outcomes include academic studies, ethical AI guidelines, and an open-source platform. Together, these outputs could shape a new research field that links digital humanities and computer science. Moreover, they may support wider peacebuilding efforts.
Findings from the 2025 Influence Index
Research presented at the event showed a decline in overall global influence, alongside a shift toward Western and Asian regions. These trends suggest structural change and reduced political backing in earlier strongholds.
Such findings provide context for policymakers. They also support evidence-based dialogue and long-term planning.
Human-Centric AI for Social Harmony
Experts stressed the need to embed ethics and cultural awareness into AI systems. This step can help detect hate speech and promote inclusive narratives across faith traditions.
The alliance brings together universities, research centres, and technology institutions in North America and Europe. Through this cooperation, AI may become a bridge for coexistence rather than division.
Toward Peace Through Knowledge and Technology
Participants concluded that data-driven research and technology-enabled dialogue work best when combined. This balanced approach can help counter extremism and support lasting peace in a fast-changing digital world.
Overall, the AI4ID Alliance positions TRENDS and its partners at the centre of ethical AI, interfaith dialogue, and global policy thinking.
