The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation reported new UAE workforce figures on December 8, confirming that women now hold 1.039 million private-sector jobs across the country. The update matters as it outlines current participation levels, skilled roles, and leadership positions within the UAE labour market.

What changed in the UAE workforce

The latest UAE workforce statistics show that women now work across eight major professions, including healthcare, education, and managerial tracks. The Ministry noted that 35.8% of private-sector establishments employed women by the end of Q3 2025. It also stated that skilled women formed 45.4% of the total female workforce.

The report highlighted more than 72,000 women in leadership posts. These roles include management of companies, departments, and affiliated private-sector projects.

Impact on workers and companies

The UAE workforce has shifted as more companies expanded hiring. Women’s participation in private-sector jobs grew 20.95% during 2024 and the first half of 2025. Companies contributing to female employment also increased by 27.54% in the same period.

Healthcare remains the largest employer of women, accounting for 64.05% of female roles. Education followed with 16.61% of positions held by women within private institutions.

Labour regulations in the UAE guarantee equal pay for men and women who perform the same job. The law also bars employers from dismissing or warning women due to pregnancy. It prohibits discrimination in hiring, promotion, and job assignment across all private-sector fields.

The framework removed earlier limits on women working night shifts or in physically demanding sectors such as construction, mining, energy, transportation, agriculture, and manufacturing. These rules form part of the UAE workforce reforms aimed at ensuring equal access to employment.

Supporting data from the ministry

Skilled women now make up 28.86% of the entire skilled UAE workforce within the private sector. The Ministry stated that leadership roles for women rose 33.8% across legislative, business, and managerial functions. It added that skilled female workers continued to grow across key industries.
