In a significant leadership development, Ali Boroumand has been appointed Managing Director of Global Go-to-Market (GTM) Practice for Infrastructure and Data at Google. The move reflects the company’s growing focus on scaling its global cloud infrastructure and accelerating enterprise AI adoption.

Boroumand, who has spent nearly seven years with Google Cloud, steps into the role after serving as Director of Global GTM Practice for Infrastructure. His elevation signals continuity in leadership while reinforcing Google’s aggressive push in AI-driven cloud transformation.

Driving global AI infrastructure and enterprise cloud adoption

In his new role, Boroumand will lead global GTM strategy across infrastructure and data platforms. He will focus on aligning Google Cloud’s planet-scale infrastructure with real-world enterprise outcomes.

He is expected to drive adoption of advanced AI infrastructure, including solutions that support training large-scale models and running inference efficiently. At the same time, he will strengthen enterprise migration strategies, helping organizations transition mission-critical workloads to the cloud.

Moreover, Boroumand will expand initiatives around sovereign cloud solutions. These offerings address growing regulatory and data residency demands across industries and governments.

Proven track record across global markets and industries

Boroumand brings over 17 years of experience in consulting and cloud strategy. Throughout his career, he has worked across 16 countries, spanning regions such as North America, Europe, APAC, the Middle East, and Africa.

Before his latest promotion, he led global strategy and operations for Google Cloud’s partner ecosystem. Under his leadership, the ecosystem expanded rapidly, growing to over 90,000 partners worldwide. This network now includes leading system integrators, software vendors, and data platform providers.

Earlier in his career, Boroumand held roles at firms such as Accenture and IBM, where he worked on large-scale digital transformation and technology modernization projects.

Strengthening Google Cloud’s competitive positioning

The appointment comes at a time when competition in the global cloud market is intensifying. Players are investing heavily in AI infrastructure, generative AI platforms, and enterprise cloud solutions.

Google Cloud continues to differentiate itself through its private global network, open-source leadership, and strong security architecture. With Boroumand at the helm of GTM for infrastructure and data, the company aims to translate these strengths into faster enterprise adoption and revenue growth.

Focus on partner ecosystem and scalable growth

A key priority for Boroumand will be scaling Google Cloud’s partner-led growth strategy. The partner ecosystem plays a crucial role in expanding market reach and accelerating customer onboarding.

Additionally, he will focus on integrating AI-first capabilities into GTM motions. This includes enabling enterprises to leverage generative AI, cloud-native platforms, and data analytics tools more effectively.
